Step 3. Insert Alternate Forms of the Investigational Names
3. Insert the the alternate form of each of the two investigational name.
Nilotinib’s investigational name is:
AMN-107
An investigational name is the name used by the drug’s developer before assignment of a generic name. Investigational names are typically a group of letters followed by a hyphen or space and then a group of numbers. Authors do not always write investigational names in the same way. A hyphen may be present, absent, or replaced by a space.
In your word document,
- copy any investigational names,
- paste a second copy into your term list.
- Make revisions to get the needed two forms of each investigational name:
- one copy containing a hyphen between the letters and numbers (this form will retrieve records containing either a space or a hyphen).
- one copy containing no hyphen and no space
The result of this process is shown for the omacetaxine search in the screenshot below. Omacetaxine’s investigational names are CGX-635 and NSC-141633.
