We’ve arrived at Creative Commons, which is the system that makes Open Educational Resources possible as we know them. Thanks to the three layers of licenses, human-readable, legal code, and machine readable, it is possible to quickly assemble and find OER. CC, of course, also extends far beyond OER in utility, and the ways in which it does so are another part of the essential copyright knowledge that all educators and librarians should possess.
