Section 2: Copyright

Copyright is integral to a full appreciation of academic publishing, Open Educational Resources and Open Access. This module starts this journey with a broad overview of the historical context of copyright law, the copyright term extension acts, and a basic overview of copyright including what can and cannot be copyrighted, and the exclusive rights granted by copyright.

Learning Objectives

  • Place current copyright law within a broader historical context, particularly regarding extension of copyright protections.
  • Identify copyrightable and non-copyrightable materials.
  • Identify the exclusive rights of copyright.
