Section 4: The Creative Commons

With a foundation of content covering academic publishing, copyright, Fair Use and Public Domain, you are ready for instruction on Creative Commons. CC is integral to the functioning of Open Educational Resources as we know it. The functionality of CC licenses enables the collection of and search for materials, which the user understands comes with no financial obligation to use. This module will cover the history and context of CC and its origins in the fight over the Copyright Term Extension Act of 1998. It will also cover the three layers of a Creative Commons license, and the four components of a license.
