Gathering Search Terms for Concepts

Ascinimib Terms

  • In Word,  replace “ascinimib” with the corrected version of the ascinimib keyword search you created last week.

You can find this in your “FSA1 corrected” assignment.  Be sure to make any corrections that Cindy recommended.

  • Also paste your list/s of removed drug names into your Word document.  Place this list under your concept list.

If you were not present for last week’s class or haven’t created an ascinimib search yet for another reason, please complete the “Using Martindale’s to Create A Drug Keyword Search” and then return to this  tutorial.

“CML” Terms

  • The creation of the CML search strategy shown below was demonstrated in the course book and accompanying video.  As mentioned earlier, creating an exhaustive search is a group effort even when information professionals are creating the search.  It is fine to work with others to create an exhaustive search or take a strategy shared by other searchers.  Use the CML strategy shown below in your final search assignment search.

(((BCR-ABL* OR chronic* OR non-acute OR nonacute OR ph1 OR ph1+ OR Philadelphia*[tiab] OR slow-growing OR smolder* OR smoulder*) AND (granulocyt* OR myelo*) AND (leukaem* OR leukem*)) OR CML OR CGL)

  • Copy the CML strategy.
  • Replace the “chronic myeloid leukemia” entry in your Word document with this strategy.

 “Resistance” Terms

This tutorial will guide you as you locate words that authors use to indicate that they are talking about a “resistant” form of CML.  You will then create a search strategy using the gathered terms and their variants.

Finally you will combine the search strategy for the “resistance” concept with  the search strategies you already have for the “CML” concept and the “ascinimib” concepts.
