Toilet Positioning
Correct toileting habits:
- Take your time approaching the rest room.
- Lean forward, elbows can rest on knees
- Bend knees, knees higher than hips
- Straight back
- Use a footstool
- Practice deep belly breathing, breathing out your mouth
- Relax your anal sphincter if having a bowel movement
Incorrect toileting habits:
- Run to the rest room as fast as possible
- Rush and strain
- Lift your heels off the ground when sitting on the toilet
- Hunch over
- Cross your legs
- Breathe as fast as you can or hold breath
- Hover over the toilet
