Tack used with your horse should be of a high quality. Tack made of natural materials are recommended to reduce irritation and rubbing.  This would include:  Saddle, bridles, etc hanging in a barn.

  • Leather reins and headstalls with throat latches
  • Cotton or mohair cinches
  • Felt saddle pads
  • Leather latigos and billets
  • Cotton halters and leads

What types of tack are permitted on your feedyard?  What care is required and how often is it inspected?

****Deana’s question to team: …To make this more engaging, I wonder about adding in some videos demonstrating the key points of fitting a saddle, etc…something instead of or in addition to the images.  I could also see an image of a saddle with different parts labelled and pop up definitions or video demonstrations of the saddle part- something like this…***
