Step 1-4. Outline Your Search

Step 1. Define Your Clinical Question

During this second portion of the “Using MeSH to Search PubMed/MEDLINE” lab, you will compose a MeSH search strategy for your final search assignment topic:

What is the evidence concerning the efficacy of asciminib in patients with  BCR-ABL+ chronic myeloid leukemia that is resistant to another anti-cancer drug?

  • Copy this question and paste it in a Word document.

Step 2.  Outline Search Concepts

  • List the important search concepts in  your Word document.

Step 3.  Filter Concepts

  • If your list includes any “Filter” concepts, type “Filter” next to that concept/s.

Step 4.  Heading and Subheading Concepts

  • Type “Heading” next to the concepts you believe should be represented by MeSH headings.

  • Type “Subheading” next to the concepts you believe should be represented by subheadings.

  • Does your clinical question address a type of question for which a search template is available?
