Advanced Tools to Consider

A look at advanced techniques in Logic Pro as well as other tools to consider for the musical and non-musical assets in this project.

Quantize – Time

In edit mode, note how the start of each note is NOT aligned to the grid…

 

To select the notes, right click and use the “Select All” (or use other options)

 

Click the “Q” button to quantize the timing of the notes (in this case to the nearest 1/16th of a bar) – the start of each note now is aligned to the grid

Quantize – Scale

You can also adjust pitches so that they are in the correct key or harmony

 

Be sure to set the Scale letter as well!

Bounce vs. Share

The File menu of Logic Pro has two options for creating the final audio version of your complete song.

 

The Bounce menu lets you save a final mix in various audio formats

 

The Share menu will allow you to add the song to Apple Music which is where you’ll be able to add all of the metadata needed for this project.

Adding Metadata to your Song via Apple Music

When you use the Share option, you’ll get a popup that will let you add basic metadata to your song…

 

Here’s what the song looks like in the Apple Music app.

 

Click the … button and select “Get Info”

 

Easy process to get new copy of your song with this metadata…

Drag and drop the song from the Music app to your desktop

This will automatically make a copy of what is in your Music app’s library…
