15 Development Phase

Listed below are the necessary steps necessary for the program development phase to be completed. Once completed, the implementation phase may begin.

  • Confirm location and community partner(s) of the clinic
  • Apply for grants and determine funding source
  • Feasibily decide if the clinic is integrated into the curriculum or if it is volunteer-based
  • Verify legal responsibilities and duties for UNMC affiliation
  • Obtain a documentation system (e.g., Electronic Medical Record, Electronic Health Record, paper documentation)
  • Create name for the student-run free clinic
  • Produce general outline of what clinical operations will entail (e.g., flow of the clinic)
  • Determine meeting frequencies and dates for OT preceptors, students, and program and faculty
  • Develop other occupation-based intervention protocols
  • Identify necessary assessment tools and equipment/materials
