Next Tuesday, January 30th from 11am-12pm, we will be holding a session all about New Quizzes, Canvas’s next generation quizzing platform. In this session, presenters will explore how New Quizzes is different than Classic Quizzes, detail the question types that are available, provide an overview of how settings and accommodations work, and discuss how this platform will work in the Digital Learning Center. Did you know STAR can help you find Open Educational
Open Educational Resources (OER) are “teaching, learning, and research resources that reside in the public domain or have been released under an intellectual property license that permits their free use and re-purposing by others.” (From the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation)
Did you know there are multiple departments at UNL that can help you find or create your own OER materials? The Successful Teaching with Affordable Resources (STAR) is a campus initiative to decrease the cost of student education by making access to textbooks and course content more affordable.
STAR leverages the resources of the Office of the Executive Vice-Chancellor, University Libraries, Information Technology Services, and the Center for Transformative Teaching. One of the main goals is to help create more OER resources on campus.
More information on OER can be found in our Affordable Content Faculty Guide in the Open Educational Resources (OER) chapter.
If you have any questions about how to start using or creating OERs you can contact anyone on the STAR team:

Course Merging and Sandbox Creation Tool Available
As a reminder, ITS has a helpful tool that allows instructors to merge their Canvas courses and create sandboxes on their own – without needing to create a support ticket! Users can navigate to https://its-lmsutilities.unl.edu/ to access this tool and to perform either of those actions. Please see this video for a brief demonstration:
