It my help you remember that AHFS DI can provide pearls of information if you remember the graphic shown below.

The individual letters in "AHFS DI" are shown on individual pearls in a pearl bracelet.

To reach the electronic version of the  AHFS DI:

  • Click here to open McGoogan Library’s homepage , and pull the new tab/window off of the instruction panel and onto your working window.

You may have to scroll to the right to see the buttons on the right-hand side of the Library’s homepage.

  • Click on the “Resources” menu.

A screenshot shows the position of the "Resources" menu and the "Drug Resources" link.

  • Click on the “Drug Resources” link.
  • Click on the “UpToDate LexiDrug” link (Please, notice that the description of UpToDate LexiDrug mentions that AHFS DI is included).

To find the AHFS DI “Ondansetron” monograph:

  • Search UpToDate LexiDrug for –

Ondansetron

  • To find the “AHFS DI (Adult and Pediatric)” heading, click on the “More Results” link.

A screenshot shows the location of the "more results" link.

  • DO NOT CLICK the “AHFS Essentials” link.  You’ll probably find the link you want, the “AHFS DI” link at the bottom of the search results list.  Click on the link under the “AHFS DI” heading.

To look for any mention of jaundice:

  • Click on the text of the AHFS DI monograph.
  • Click Ctl-f (Windows) or Command-f (Mac) to open a “Find” box.
  • Type in —

Jaundice

  • Click the “Ref” link next to the word “jaundice”

A screenshot shows the located instance of "jaundice" and arrow points to the adjacent "ref" link.

  • Note that the reference shown in the “Reference” pop-up box is a conference abstract, a source type rarely cited in the other drug information resources.

A screenshot shows the reference pop-up with the "abstract" note and the meeting name underlined.

AHFS DI frequently cites conference abstracts and personal communications and, thus, provides information that is not available through other sources.
