1 Finding OER

A few “best bet” resources for finding OER include:

  • OASIS  (the Openly Available Sources Integrated Search), a tool that searches open content from over 90 sources.
  • Open Textbook Library  (a collection of openly-licensed textbooks that have been reviewed by faculty from a variety of higher ed institutions)
  • OpenStax  (a nonprofit initiative based at Rice University that publishes high-quality, peer-reviewed, openly licensed college textbooks)
  • OER Commons (launched by ISKME, allows searching by material type, educational or grade levels, and subject disciplines)
  • MERLOT  (the Multimedia Educational Resources for Learning and Online Teaching), provides access to curated online learning and support materials and content creation tools, led by an international community of educators, learners, and researchers
