7 Engage Opt-Out for Textbook Purchase

For all Inclusive Access textbooks students will have the option to opt-out of purchasing the textbook. They must choose this option before the deadline of the last day to drop a course and receive a 100% refund. This is typically at the end of the first week of classes for the Fall and Spring semesters.
You can check the Academic Calendar for these dates for all session courses.

Best practice is to inform students that they can opt-out of Engage textbooks by providing the following information:
• Let students know they will not receive an email from Unizin on how to opt-out of the textbook purchase.
• They have access to the opt-out process through the Unizin Engage Menu link in Canvas.
• Student opt-in and opt-out information is available in the Student Guide for Inclusive Access: Engage Opt Out for Textbook Purchase

This is a suggested email template you can use to send to your students in a course using  Unizin Engage materials.
Bold text in ( ) is for information you need to edit that will be specific to your course and the semester.

Your textbook will be available through the Unizin Engage (Or Publisher Tool) link in your Canvas course on day-one of the class. You will be charged for the cost of the textbook on your student account bill. You have the option to opt out of the purchase at the beginning of the course. If you opt out before the deadline of (Enter Deadline Date*), you will not be charged for the text and you will not have access to the textbook in Canvas after the deadline passes.
