30 Capsaicin Terms

  • In your Word document, type your concept word — capsaicin.

 

This will be the first term for your capsaicin concept.  Then proceed to the MeSH database where you will find alternate terms for the concept:

 

  • Click on the PubMed.gov logo in the upper left corner of the page to return to the PubMed homepage.

  • Find the “Explore” list and click on the “MeSH Database” link.

  • Enter — capsaicin — in the search box.
  • Hit the “Search” button.

 

 
  • After reaching the MeSH search results, click on the “Capsaicin” link.

  • Are there any terms in the heading definition that you want to add to the term list?

 
  • Copy the entry term list (see red box in figure below) and paste the list it beneath the words already in your capsaicin term list in  your Word document .

  • Next, delete all the multi-word phrases that contain either the word capsaicin or the word capsicum.  These phrases will be retrieved by the single-word search terms already in your term list.

If not, correct your list of terms.

Next:

  • Put quotes around the multi-word terms (any terms containing spaces).
  • OR together the list of terms to make one search statement
  • Put parentheses around the OR’d together terms so that the PubMed search engine will retrieve a set of results for the capsaicin concept before doing any adjacent operations.
