Conducting a Thorough PubMed Search
Purpose:
The next portion of the tutorial will explain, and lead you through, the steps involved in searching all parts of PubMed for information on a specific clinical topic
Objectives:
Students who complete the PubMed portion of this tutorial will:
- Be aware of the several datasets existing in PubMed and the specific search approaches/filters/etc. that can be used when searching those datasets.
- Identify the important search concepts in a clinical question.
- Produce thorough, correctly formatted MeSH and keyword searches for the clinical topic.
- Gather useful alternate keywords for a clinical topic using the information in MeSH database entries for the topic of interest.
