31 Peripheral Neuropathy Terms

In your document, start a new term list for your second search concept, peripheral neuropathy.  Start the list by typing —

neuropathy

Since capsaicin is topically applied, it’s only likely to be used for peripheral neuropathy, and you don’t have to specify “peripheral” in your search.

You do not need to take the time to create a list of all the names of the various kinds of peripheral neuropathies for this tutorial. Instead, just use the alternate terms for neuropathy listed in the MeSH database entry for diabetic neuropathy.

  • Search the MeSH database for  —

diabetic neuropathy

You should now be looking at the detailed entry for the “diabetic neuropathies” heading.

  • Check the heading and definition for relevant terms not already included in your “peripheral neuropathy” term list.  Add these to your list in Word.

  • Copy the entry term list, and paste the list into your Word document.

(To avoid including bullets in your pasted list, copy the list, right-click in Word, look for a “paste special”  or similar option.  “Paste special” usually provides an”unformatted text” option.)

  • Remove all the words that are not necessary to indicate that neuropathy is being discussed.

If you  really needed the results of a comprehensive search, you would need to construct a much longer and more comprehensive list that included the names of lots of specific, peripheral nervous system diseases.
