1 Objectives

Students who complete the EMBASE-related section of this tutorial will:

1. Be able to state at least two reasons that it might be worth searching EMBASE in addition to searching PubMed.
2. Understand that a drug mentioned just once in an article will be indexed as pertaining to that drug by EMBASE and understand the implications of this fact.
3. Create correctly formatted EMTREE (subject heading) and keyword searches in EMBASE.
4. Use a drug EMTREE heading with a route of administration subheading to find literature concerning a specific route of drug administration.
5. Understand and use proximity operators to focus a keyword search on the topic of interest.
